Shihan Mike Franco

Shihan Mike Franco began his karate journey at the age of 8, training under his father, Shihan John M. Franco Sr., in Toppenish, Washington. At just 24, he co-founded TMAA alongside Sensei Sarah Franco, where he has since trained and mentored hundreds of students.

Committed to continuous learning, Shihan Mike trained under his father until Shihan John’s passing in 2013 and continued his studies under Hanshi Morris Mack, founder of the American Shudokan Association, until Hanshi Mack’s passing in 2017. His martial arts development has also been shaped by esteemed instructors such as Shihan Tereo Chinen (Spokane), Shihan James Tawatao (Las Vegas), and Shihan Akio Minakami (Seattle).

Beyond teaching technique, Shihan Mike is passionate about empowering students to succeed both inside and outside the dojo. Since 1998, he has dedicated his life to deepening his understanding of karate while guiding others toward personal growth and leadership. His mission is to coach and mentor students on their journey to achieving their goals and dreams. Through Shudokan Karate, he and Sensei Sarah have helped countless students become confident leaders in their homes, schools, churches, and communities.
